UFC 160 Predictions: Who Will Win Each Main Card Fight

Everyone is looking for the main event between Antonio Silva and Cain Velasquez, the defending heavyweight champion.  However, there are a few other fights that should be quite exciting as well.

Back in the day, Cerrone was a top lightweight contender.  After going 2-2 in his last four fights, that hype has died down a bit, but he should still be the favorite to win this fight.

Noons is just 1-4 in his last five fights, and he struggles mightily with takedowns.  On the other hand, Cerrone has some strong jiu-jitsu skills, with 14 of his 20 wins coming by submission.

If this fight is heavily on the ground, it's going to be all Cerrone.  He is just too dynamic of a fighter not to win this fight, even if there's a bit of fighting on their feet.

This is going to be Maynard's first fight in almost a year due to a knee injury, so there will likely be some rust to shake off for The Bully.  On the other hand, Grant has been hot since making the switch to lightweight, winning all four fights in the division.

Grant is a solid striker as well as a dangerous fighter on the ground.  He's looked much stronger since becoming a lightweight, and has some power coming behind his punches on his feet.  He must work on defending takedowns, as that's been an issue for him.

For Maynard, he likes to focus on dragging out fights to decision.  This likely won't be the case against Grant, as he is a strong fighter that will likely extend his winning streak in the lightweight division.

It's hard to go against the fighter that's won 18 straight fights with his last loss dating back to 2005.  His latest win was against Rampage Jackson, winning by decision.

Te-Huna is replacing Ryan Bader, who had to withdraw due to injury.  He's pretty good on his feet, but he seriously struggles when a fight goes to the ground.

Meanwhile, Teixeira is a solid all-around fighter who prefers to be on his feet as a striker.  His jiu-jitsu background shows, and he can be a solid player when it comes to the submission game, where Te-Huna really struggles.

After losing his title belt to Velazquez in UFC 155, dos Santos is looking to finally get some revenge by getting a win and a chance to take back his belt in the near future.

Both fighters love to duke it out on their feet, but dos Santos has an advantage in quickness.  He's around 25 pounds lighter, which gives him the ability to move around the Octagon more effectively.

Although Hunt has an advantage in power, dos Santos is probably the best fighter in the heavyweight division.  Expect some big blows throughout the fight, but Junior should come away with the victory.

This will be the first time Velasquez will have to defend the title belt in his second reign, but he should be able to successfully fend off Silva at UFC 160.

This will still be a close fight, however, as Silva is a monster striker who can knock out just about anyone, including Brock Lesnar.

Velasquez will need to get Silva to the ground to avoid his big shots as a striker.  He is a strong wrestler and should do a good job making an impact on the ground, but it will be a very close match if they are on their feet.

Michael Crabtree Injury: Updates concerning 49ers Star's Achilles.

Devastating news emerged to your San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday as wide device Michael Crabtree reportedly tore his Calf msucles during Tuesday's OTAs and will undergo surgery to mend the damage, according to help USA Today's Mike Garafolo.

While there can be a very real chance Crabtree is forced to miss the complete 2013-14 season, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that all hope isn't lost to your wide receiver making a comeback shock as to:

As seen with the quick recoveries of other players facing a similar type of Achilles injuries—Baltimore's Terrell Suggs in addition to Tampa Bay's Da'Quan Bowers—there's your chance Crabtree returns in 2013.

The 25-year-old receiver will have to work extremely hard to reach the condition of success that Bowers together with Suggs found after their injuries this, but with the 49ers finding a lot regular-season and postseason accomplishment, the competitive star will want to be on the field at once.

Crabtree is coming from the best year of his NFL career, earning position highs in receptions (85), yards (1, 105) and touchdowns (nine), and also the rapport he's developing with young quarterback Colin Kaepernick signaled that young star was due for an even better season within 2013.

While it's still a devastating blow to give up the 10th overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft with regard to extended time, San Francisco fortunately carries a few options at wide receiver to interchange Crabtree.

Not only managed the team sign fourth-round draw up pick and wide recipient prospect Quinton Patton Wed (h/t 49ers. com), but San francisco bay area also traded for veteran Anquan Boldin with the offseason and will search for more production out of second-year player A. J. Jenkins.

Add in this return of Mario Manningham, who is coming off a split ACL and PCL, plus the continued evolution of limited end Vernon Davis into a pass-catching machine, and the 49ers look passable with the receiving group despite this particular huge loss.

There is constantly a chance that a 49ers could re-sign Randy Moss at another one-year deal, but which includes a strong draft and smart offseason moves, this is an injury that needs to be remedied in house.

Winning trades and Losers from Thursday's Mad NBA Playoff Action.

When aiming to isolate the reasons to your Warriors' postseason elimination against the Spurs on Thursday, it'd be simple point to the missed open shots inside fourth quarter. Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry couldn't convert on the few looks they'd hit 100s of times during the year or so.

Not only that, but Harrison Barnes' early exit with a head injury deprived Silver State of its best athlete and many versatile wing defender.

There were long stretches during Game 6 in which the Warriors featured two centers on the court while doing so, one of whom is the seldom-used Andris Biedrins.

Let's be clear on one thing: There is no circumstance in which Biedrins' presence on the court is excusable. He's afraid of the ball, actively clogs passing lanes and just can't avoid fouls (he possessed five in 12 minutes).

That'd be weird enough without attention, but what made Jackson's rotation moves a lot more puzzling was his decision to play with not a big man for many other lengthy stretches. Believe us, I'm aware that the Warriors played plenty of minutes this year by means of David Lee and Carl Landry for the only bigs on to the floor.

Ultimately, Jackson's moves were strange and has been born of a justifiable desperation. The Spurs had a remedy for almost everything this Warriors did, so perhaps the young coach was looking for a mixture that would probably throw the unflappable Spurs off.

The Warriors' season was a rousing success, and it's possible this defeat was just the first task toward a future playoff progression designed to see them advance further within the coming years. Still, it's hard to build past the feeling that the few bizarre lineup possibilities caused this playoff run to end a little fast.

Giro Croatia 2013 Standings: Stage fifteen Results, Leaderboard and Decorations.

German cyclist Mauro Santambrogio took Stage 14 with the 2013 Giro Italia upon Saturday in exciting type, as overall leader Vincenzo Nibali extensive his lead by a finish just behind in 2nd place (via Cycling Weekly).

Saturday brought with it a portion of the worst weather conditions at this point, as dense fog, chilled temperatures, mountains and bad weather vastly affected the bike riders.

After two straight position victories for sprinter Indicate Cavendish, the tour finally showed once again for a further star to claim some sort of victory. This time it was Santambrogio, as the 28-year-old completed his most impressive day of racing using some time.

As for in overall leader, Nibali came into built with just a 40-second head but now leads Cadel Evans by eco-friendly tea's health benefits minute after one from his best days on the roads.

Going through some of the toughest conditions of a tour, cyclists had to fight with the cold, mountainous and sometimes wet terrain to write solid times Saturday. That didn't stop Nibali from which has a stellar day that position him one step closer to locking up the thorough race.

Despite now trailing by eco-friendly tea's health benefits minute, Evans had himself a great day as well. He finished sixth inside stage, just 33 seconds behind a-.

While Stage 13's results were containing cyclists that were nowhere to be found in the overall leaderboard, Stage 14 was the complete opposite.

We saw the cream popularity Saturday as six within the top 10 Stage 14 finishers are likewise in the top 10 over-all. This usually means that conditions weren't ideal for the sprinters, causing better talented cyclists to create the surge.

Nibali, as he's seemed to do for the race, was the a particular leading that charge. He attacked late inside the stage to get out in front before being overtaken by Santambrogio. Despite that, they both finished with the same time frame.

Other than Nibali along with Evans, the rest of your field sits nearly three minutes out of the lead. Although anything can happen, you'd like to imagine this really now a two-man race for the most part.

It'll be interesting to see if Nibali can hold on to his lead and keep growing it as the race wears on. Evans is certainly famished for victory so they can establish his status among the best cyclists around, it also won't be easy.

There's certainly plenty involving reasons to tune into other action in Italy for the reason that race gets closer to reaching its finale.

WWE News: Will CM Punk's Next Feud in WWE Involve a Turn on Paul Heyman?

It's been quite some time since we have seen the Voice of the Voiceless in a WWE ring, or any ring for that matter. The closest he has been to a mat was his appearance at the latest UFC pay-per-view. At least Punk's baseball-watching antics have not stopped.

According to Josh Isenberg of wrestlezone.com, Punk's next feud is being discussed and it turns out that we may see the implosion of one Paul Heyman guy.

Speculation in WWE has writers coming up with ideas about CM Punk's next feud when he returns. Although nothing is confirmed, there has been discussion about CM Punk facing Brock Lesnar.

The idea in the story would be for Paul Heyman to turn on Punk, forcing Punk to turn back to a face to square off against Lesnar, possibly as soon as Summerslam or Survivor Series. WWE feels that Punk is better suited as a face instead of Brock Lesnar, who seems to be built for the long run as a heel in the WWE.

Of course, it is only speculation, but one can wonder how Vince will write Punk back onto television. It is a clear favorite among many that Punk will be a babyface upon his return to television.

Now, the big question is, who will Punk face...well, as a face? The heels at the moment are the Big Show, Mark Henry (maybe?), Curtis Axel, Brock Lesnar, Ryback and Damien Sandow (big stretch). He will almost definitely be battling for the title at some point when he returns.

My personal opinion: I think Punk will win the Money in the Bank and cash it in on Cena. It would be his third briefcase, so that's also a stretch. Especially if they want the two Paul Heyman guys to do battle against each other, then the briefcase is out of the question.

It's all speculation, but that's what makes WWE fun to watch. As wrestling fans, we can speculate, but that doesn't mean we are right.

See all of you next time. Comment below what you think will happen with CM Punk. The summer is almost here and that means the summer angle is creeping closer as we speak.

Barcelona Transfer Rumors: Catalan Club Must Strike and Land Neymar This Summer

Heading into the summer, one of the biggest storylines will surround Neymar and whether the Brazilian star will finally make the move to European football.

For Barcelona, the answer to that question will be vital, and the Catalan club must strike now and land the Santos talisman.

Neymar told Globo Esporte about his situation at Santos: "I'm happy here. I have already told you. Unless I die this game [against Corinthians on Sunday] is not my last game.

"If people are saying other things, then they know more than I do. Many people say what they want without knowing anything. But this is how things are."

Barcelona are waiting for Neymar but for 2014. A project is in place to see how he will fit there. We are 'dating' so to speak but there is no concrete deal.

Two things became apparent for Barcelona against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semifinals: The team is lost without Lionel Messi against elite competition, and the top sides in Europe are starting to figure out how to beat Barca's tiki-taka approach.

In other words, the team needs to add more world-class talent, and a little bit more flair certainly wouldn't hurt. It seems odd to suggest that a team with Messi, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, Cesc Fabregas, Dani Alves and Gerard Pique needs more talent, but after being physically dominated by Bayern Munich, it's hard to deny.

And boy, oh boy, would Neymar bring an infusion of talent to the left wing for Barcelona. His ability to take defenders one-on-one and force double teams would give Barca a second talisman on the attack beside Messi and clear space for his teammates.

His pace and vision down the wing would give La Liga right-backs fits. And his ability to drift centrally and score goals at a proficient rate would take some serious pressure off of Messi's shoulders. So long as Neymar recognized that Messi was the team's primary weapon, the duo would be scary together.

But you get the impression that Barcelona will have plenty of competition to land Neymar, and waiting until next summer to do so could make other teams more appealing.

If Bayern Munich win the Champions League next year and continue to dominate into next season—that seems likely, seeing as Mario Goetze will be joining the ranks, which is a scary thought—might they become a more intriguing option for Neymar?

If Cristiano Ronaldo ends up leaving, vacating Neymar's preferred left wing position, could he decide to head to Madrid rather than Barcelona?

And we haven't even mentioned big spenders in the Premier League like Manchester City, Chelsea or Manchester United.

It's long been thought that the Catalans would be the favored side to land his signature. But with the balance of power in European football seemingly shifting, Neymar may choose to weigh his options if he remains at Santos for another season.

He's a good fit for Barcelona and a much-needed talent. For Barca, sealing the deal with Neymar this summer is crucial.

Eddie George dominated the school gridiron for two months, and he might have for 2 more if not for limited playing time.

NBA Playoffs 2013: Biggest X-Factor for Teams Making Trip to Conference Finals.

The Miami Heat figured that out after losing with the Dallas Mavericks in this 2011 NBA Finals. Keeping the Big Three wasn't enough to make sure postseason success. Credit the Heat's management precisely as it has built a stronger team, and one certainly capable of lifting the Larry O'Brien Trophy for a second year in some row.

It's much a similar situation for the other two teams that are fitted with punched their respective tickets to your Conference Finals.

The San Antonio Spurs get Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and A2z tony Parker to lead what exactly is well-balanced team. Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies employ a strong supporting cast to help Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol along with Mike Conley.

Here are X-factors for all the three teams in your Conference Finals. These guys can't single-handedly win a series, but their performances heli-copter flight bench can be pivotal on their team's survival in this playoffs.

With so many stars on the Temperatures, it's amazing that a lot of Miami's NBA Finals chances can hinge for the player like Norris Cole.

Cole was good inside first round, but he really found his form inside the Conference Semifinals against a Chicago Bulls. He went for 18 points with Games 2 and 3. Cole's time of year high was 16 tips, and that came when ever Miami rested its main starters resistant to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Could possibly 15.

Having the trio of Chris Bosh, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade is great and all, but it's guys like Cole who can make the difference between postseason exit and a second straight NBA title. He will be counted upon to help you knock down open shots. Cole is the kind of shooter who may help to open up the surface for Wade and Brandon.

Quincy Pondexter had a relatively undistinguished regular season. Your dog only averaged 6. 4 points a. Pondexter has been nothing if you are not consistent in the postseason, installing 6. 5 points a game.

In the first round resistant to the Los Angeles Clippers, Pondexter's production journey bench really helped released the Grizzlies. In three of their wins, he went with regard to double digits.

Against your Oklahoma City Thunder, Pondexter has not been asked to do just as much, but he still went for approximately 6. 6 a online game.

When Pondexter shot, he wine basket count. He's knocking down 45. 3 percent of his shots in the playoffs, including 42. 9 pct from three-point range.

Memphis won't be relying on Pondexter to help win its games with Spurs, but a couple involving key three-pointers can go a long way for the Grizzlies.

On an individual hand, it has as a little frustrating backing up a place guard like Tony Parker. You're stuck behind possibly the best point guards in this NBA. Don't look meant for Gary Neal to protest, though, as he's been a sexy option behind Parker and filled straight into starting duties when required.

Although Neal's numbers have dropped with the regular season to a playoffs, a lot of which can be contributed to Parker actively playing more minutes and Neal using fewer.

What's a bit disconcerting is that Neal is only shooting 35. 0 percent with the field, including just 24. 0 percent from associated with the arc.

He'll must find his shooting stroke with the Conference Finals. The Grizzlies are so strong inside the post. Neal's offense up from the bench can be substantial.

UEFA Europa Category Final 2013: Top Takeaways designed for Chelsea in Victory.

It might possibly not have been easy all the time period, or as convincing as some can have wanted, but Chelsea emerged victorious with the 2013 UEFA Europa Category Final.

After being outplayed by Benfica for most first half, the Blues had the ability to hang in defensively and next sneak a goal to the counterattack to Fernando Torres. That was soon cancelled out by way of penalty for the Colonial giants, but they would clinch the trophy when Branislas Ivanovic going home in injury time period.

The win marks to begin with that any club has held both the Champions League and the Europa League at the same time. And for Chelsea, it marks a strong end for an otherwise frustrating year and provides them another European trophy to enhance the collection—albeit different with the one they would possess originally wanted.

As soon as they picked the tennis ball up in defense, Benfica seemed like threatening the Blues' defense while they quickly shifted the shot around their attack.

And additionally yes, there were some key chances found by the Portuguese giants, but thanks to the defensive resilience involving Chelsea, they were in a position to hang in there together with keep a clean bed-sheet heading into half time—despite having next to no possession to their own name.

The Blues didn't panic once they came under mounting pressure and could hold their line well, with Gary Cahill one of several real standouts at the trunk.

Even when the game was seemingly over at 2-1, Cahill came up using a key block in one more seconds to ensure success. Many players would had been forgiven for switching off of, but like they'd done for many the game, Chelsea were found being be strong at a back corner and more than set for Benfica's attack.

And as they definitely showed in the Champs League against Barcelona and Bayern Munich last time of year, sometimes that's all you have to do for success.

Benfica manager Jorge Christ said in his post-match comments that "for almost all the 93 minutes, we were superior to Chelsea"—and it's hard to help disagree.

Then again, what they couldn't can was take their probability. And in the stop, that proved to be the difference for the West London club en route to the title.

WhoScored. com has Chelsea chalking up 12 shots in the match, but it's hard to consider the Blues having such attacking presence. The the vast majority of the game was them wanting to win the ball funding midfield and quickly scurry forward if he or she got opportunities that they may score from, and that it was that mentality that ultimately were able to win it for that Blues.

Torres scored on a counterattack when the chance came to him. He didn't genuinely have another chance on the night, but he made it count when his section needed him.

Chelsea had few clear goal-scoring chances fall their way over the night, but they were able to take advantage of the limited opportunities they did have.

However, maybe the greatest takeaway for Chelsea fans following win was the continual dominance of club story Frank Lampard.

After becoming the club's leading goal-scorer ever during the season, Lampard again showed that they was more than effective at mixing it on everything stage.

He didn't status, but he was this Blues' best attacking player over the night, and very pretty much netted two incredible ambitions from distance (both brought to the forefront below).

And for Chelsea, the truly great news is that a 34-year-old looks set to sign a fresh summer contract with your West Londoners, according to help ITV (h/t Sky Sports):

Thought about, really hope so [on signing a brand new deal]. We haven't sat down completely onto it, but I hope so along with the club's been brilliant so it looks good.

Benitez ended up being also quick to praise Lampard, calling him a good "great professional, " that is definitely perhaps exactly what most Chelsea fans assert after the season he's had.

Cristiano Ronaldo: Targets for Genuine Madrid Star vs. Borussia Dortmund - Bleacher Survey

Borussia Dortmund may have had Cristiano Ronaldo's number during the UEFA Champions League group stage last fall, but fifty per cent of a year later it will function as the Portuguese star who gets the last laugh. Ronaldo is burning entering Real Madrid's UEFA Champions League semifinal link with Dortmund this April, having won at least one purpose in each of the club's last five matches. But Ronaldo has actually stepped up his game on the European point, where he's 11 goals in 10 UEFA Champions League appearances for Madrid this year, including three goals in the club's quarterfinal conquer Galatasaray. The 28-year-old star forward must prove he can continue his lights-out effectiveness against Dortmund, last fall a squad that kept him to only one goal on eight pictures in two fits. But considering what we've seen from Ronaldo in recent journeys, it is safe to express that Jurgen Klopp and Dortmund are the people who should show something, that they can contain the celebrity for four successive matches. Search for Ronaldo to experience a great deal more success against Dortmund these times. Madrid somewhat out-possessed and out-shot the German side through the two group period matches, but was unfortunate to just end up with three goals after 180-plus minutes of play. Assume his goal streak to be kept by Ronaldo alive in this link, scoring at least once in each leg, home and away. All things considered, Ronaldo has netted a goal in five straight UEFA Champions League matches and does not appear to be phased by the opponent or the place. Madrid and Dortmund will perform their first leg in Germany on Wednesday and then a week later at theABernabeu. If Madrid could continue steadily to rule person, 61-39 as they have against Dortmund this season, and report about 18 photos in each leg, their average against Dortmund in two group level fits, it is almost inevitable that Ronaldo will break through with a few results of their own. Like his Barcelona competitor Lionel Messi, Ronaldo is merely too skilled to help keep under wraps for 90-plus minutes. Sure, Dortmund kept him scoreless in the 2nd group period conference last November, however it led to two other people scoring for Madrid. One year after having their UEFA Champions League function cut short at the semifinal phase, try to find Jose Mourinho's team to defeat Borussia Dortmund this spring behind a couple of targets from who else but Cristiano Ronaldo. Grizzlies proceed from uncertain future so that you can West finals.

OKLA CITY (AP) — Midway in the season, the Memphis Grizzlies got here through Oklahoma City along with left with questions swirling for the franchise's future after leading scorer Rudy Gay was traded away within the club's second big deal in just over a week.

Memphis is headed to your Western Conference finals for the 1st time in franchise history following beating the Oklahoma Town Thunder 88-84 on Wednesday night, finishing off a second-round series in five games.

"We were struggling this day, obviously, " claimed point guard Mike Conley, whom had 13 points together with 11 assists in Game 5. "We thought we lost a family member in Rudy here inside Oklahoma City. We played the game play with seven players in addition to got blown out. We didn't know what to expect the rest of the year, but we taken out it together.

"We're trying to do something really special. We want to go so far as we can go, inches Hollins said. "To reach one's destination, we had to get through Oklahoma City. And at this point, we have to get through either Golden State or San Antonio to build further. "

The West finals will begin no earlier than On the, and Hollins said players might have the day off Thursday night before returning Friday to work toward making even even more history.

"This is the first time, so it definitely means a great deal. I'm happy, but we've still got work to complete, " said All-Star potential forward Zach Randolph, who had 28 points and 14 rebounds within the clincher. "I want to win a ring. "

The Grizzlies rebounded with the emotional blow of the loss of Gay and reserves Marreese Speights, David Ellington, Josh Selby and Hamed Haddadi to help earn the fifth seed inside West, then fell behind the La Clippers 2-0 in the primary round of the playoffs.

It was a set filled with games that transpired to the wire, and the finale fit right in — though the Thunder trailed as a result of 12 with 3 min's left. Oklahoma City came back with a 16-6 rally, and Reggie Jackson's 3-pointer cut the deficit to 86-84 along with 14. 3 seconds left over.

Randolph missed two 100 % free throws with 11. 3 seconds relating to the clock to give the Thunder one last thrill to save their season. Durant got the ball beyond the 3-point line relating to the left wing and navigated round Tony Allen before losing a 16-foot jumper with 6 seconds left.

"I gave it all I had for my team. I left it all out there on to the floor, " said Durant, who scored 21 items and committed three from his seven turnovers inside fourth quarter. "I overlooked 16 shots, but I kept fighting, I held being aggressive. That's all I'm able to ask for. "

Durant had been the hero in Performance 1, hitting six of nine shots within the fourth quarter, including your go-ahead jumper with 11. 1 seconds left. After that, Hollins started including Tony Allen — the superior vote-getter for the NBA's all-defensive team — the guarding Durant. The three-time scoring champion's effectiveness declined for the series progressed.

"They had to engage in him and he had to be the go-to guy, in addition to we knew that, inches Hollins said. "We just tried to help you just make him be employed by everything. "

Durant's only two worse shooting performances in the playoffs came in Game 6 with Lakers in the 2010 primary round (5 for 1, 21. 7 percent) — additionally an elimination game — along with in Game 6 within the 2011 West semifinals with Memphis (3 for 17, 21. 4 percent).

He faced increasing pressure after All-Star point safeguard Russell Westbrook had leg surgery two games in the first round and was lost for the rest of the playoffs. Durant averaged 45. 6 minutes during a series and played all 48 minutes in Sport 5.

"He wasn't continuing to fall. He didn't want to sit watching and go down, inches Thunder coach Scott Brooks talked about. "He wanted to play. "

Oklahoma City trailed by as many as 14 before it gained a breath of life using a bizarre play midway on the third quarter when Derek Fisher's missed 3-pointer changed into a four-point possession. Allen, who has been on the bench, waved his arms to try to distract Fisher on his shot in addition to a shirt slipped out involving his hands and onto the ground near Fisher's feet.

Referee Marc Davis decided that Fisher's 3-pointer ought to count, and Durant hit the free throw caused by a technical against Allen to achieve the Thunder within 60-53. Oklahoma City got since close as 64-62 from the end of the three months, after Fisher's 3-pointer in addition to a layup by Thabo Sefolosha.

But the Thunder missed eight within their first nine shots to begin with the fourth quarter to be able to fall behind 76-64, then couldn't quite recover with the star struggling so badly.

NOTES: NBA Commissioner David Stern attended this online game and sat eight rows with the court.... Sefolosha wore your brace on his aching left hand. Who'd Give Andre Ward an increased Bout: Mikkel Kessler or even Carl Froch?

Designed for boxing, it's going to are the good old days from the start in London, England this might 25. When Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KOs) squares off along with Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35 KOs) for the IBF and WBA excellent middleweight titles, it has to be return to prominence for the weight class that have been among the glamor limbs of the sport in recent years.

From 2009 to 2011, the Showtime Super Some tournament brought together the best available 168-pounders available anywhere and set up the framework for them to fight. The tournament gave us an array of interesting fights in this online game over those two years, and it established a genuine world champion at tremendous middleweight: Andre Ward.

Kessler lost to Ward within the opening round, then delivered to beat Froch by unanimous decision in an exciting, competitive fight. But he subsequently withdrew within the tournament due to a close look injury suffered in the loss to Ward.

With new life inside tournament, Froch proceeded to fight his way back through on the finals, where he as well lost to Andre Ward in November of 2011.

Inside September of 2012, Infirmary put an exclamation position on his tournament victory by TKOing light heavyweight champ Chad Dawson in 10. Since that night, the debate has been no matter whether Ward deserves to be considered as the true pound-for-pound double.

Meanwhile, Froch and Kessler need soldiered on, continuing to demonstrate oftentimes Nos. 2 and 3 inside division. Last May, Carl Froch uncovered previously undefeated Lucian Bute, avoiding him in five. Later inside the year he knocked out there Yusaf Mack.

Kessler stopped both Allan Natural and Brian Magee not too long ago. Those two guys will not be world-beaters, but they haven't exactly made careers using being steamrolled, either.

So 24 months after the Super Six solved everything, everything has remained pretty a very similar. The IBF and that WBA will recognize the winner from this bout as their country champion. But everybody knows the fight is usually about establishing who is in second place behind Andre Ward.

As a result, people will speculate on whether or not the winner will fight Andre Infirmary. If Froch wins, it's natural. After he avenges this first career loss vs Kessler, the perfect storyline may be for him to track Andre Ward next.

Kessler's only other loss arrived at Joe Calzaghe in December of 2007. Calzaghe would proceed to retire undefeated with no ever rematching with Kessler.

On the media call I participated in yesterday morning, both Froch and Kessler acknowledged that they wish to have a rematch along with Ward, though they were understandably keen on talking about the really difficult fight staring them with the face.

But the winner of this fight are going to be spoken about as your possible future opponent to get Andre Ward. He might have beaten them both around fairly decisive fashion witout a doubt, but neither has gone anywhere since.

I are predicting that Froch could win this fight, but I am hardly convinced that he might fight Andre Ward next subsequently. I think there's a superb chance he fights many other Brit George Groves, some sort of undefeated prospect who searched outstanding against Glen Manley.

If Froch can make do that one, I think he's going to have the star electricity in London to lure Andre Ward over the pond.

On the media call, Froch made it clear that she would prefer to struggle Ward in London. "Now it's Andre Ward's select travel the world and show he's a genuine champion, " Froch reported.

Froch made no excuses with regard to his loss to Infirmary, calling the champion some "top, top fighter who knows ways to win boxing matches. " But Froch definitely enjoys his ever-rising stardom inside his native country and would prefer to fight keep fighting there to come.

And for business intentions, it might make a great deal of sense to do Froch-Ward II in London. On last week's media call, Bernie Bahrmasel proclaimed that Kessler-Froch II previously had sold 18, 000 tickets in around three hours.

If Froch battled a rematch with Keep, I have a hard time believing it could sell as well in Vegas considering that it would in London.

Froch has the types of fans who could rally around the argument he was an even hungrier even more determined fighter than in the past, and that with 20, 000 from his countrymen screaming help, he might have an opportunity to beat the great champion with the states.

In Vegas you are mostly visiting meet the hard-bitten realists who know there isn't a reality-based reason to hope that Carl Froch would be able to beat Andre Ward now. After all, he decided not to come close last moment.

First of all, I don't believe a reduction in determination and focus has have you ever been a problem for Carl Froch. His problems with Andre Ward mostly stemmed from the truth that Ward had a attractive easy time reading him or her and reacting. He was able to stop Froch from even getting yourself into position to throw your partner's punches.

Ward is still 29 and contains never had a certainly hard night's work in his life. So I've got no reason to expect him to become anything but completely razor-sharp whenever he next gets inside the ring.

And I just tend not to see Carl Froch ever beating a completely sharp Andre Ward. Nevertheless, Froch has looked wonderful since his last attack with Ward, and if a return fight ends all the way up happening in London, I am excited for it.

If Kessler manages into the future out on top with Froch, I think a rematch with Ward is the only possible fight he may want. And I think he will struggle even more than he did within the first fight.

Ultimately, I do not think either Froch or Kessler can have much chance at just about all against Ward. A rematch with Froch would possibly do better as a big-time fight.

But this should have nothing related to how we view the fight this weekend, along with true boxing fans discover this. In Froch's very own words, Kessler-Froch II is "a proper, big fight between two warriors. " You can forget any alphabet soup brands; there is so much pride on the line here between these two that we are guaranteed 12 hard-fought, action-packed rounds.

This should be a night when what goes on in the ring might be a lot more important than anything average folks can say or select it.

Marlins Pitcher Alex Sanabia Threw in the towel A Homer, Blatantly Spit In the Next Ball, And Didn’t Allow A Run For Other Game.

Naturally the controversy the Clay Buchholz accusation got a couple of weeks ago, you'd think MLB pitchers is a little more careful assuming they decided to fudge and/or break the principles of the game a little bit. But Alex Sanabia visited the school of "gives simply no fucks" and blatantly spit for a baseball in the second inning within the Marlins-Phillies game last night. It's so obvious, it's because if he doesn't know which spitballs were outlawed inside 1920.

That Sanabia spit on your golf ball is bad enough. That this appeared to coincide with him not abandoning another run over the other 6 1/3 innings is rather more serious. It's unlikely that he played with that same ball across that entire span, but he knows what other balls he spit with or licked or rubbed to the back of his guitar's neck.

Adding any sort of foreign substance, no really make a difference how insignificant, is prohibited. So expect Sanabia to become fined or suspended — not forgetting chastised by his team website marketing . such a moron.

Gill: Merely a small minority of Manchester United fans oppose Glazers - Yahoo! Activities

Birmingham United leader David Gill insists only a small group of the club's supporters oppose the Glazer family. Over the years many United supporters have staged various protests against the Glazers, the most notable being the green-and-gold scarves worn by some honoring the clubas unique colors. But with a Champions League prize and five league games showing for his or her time at the club, Gill feels the much-maligned Americans are beginning to conquer the lovers. "It could be the quality of the homeowners [that matters]," Gill told reporters. "And I believe [the Glazers] have certainly shown that since they've taken over, they have shown that what are the results on the frequency is vital to the club's goals off it." Most of the past protests were down to the groups large debt, which stems from the loans to be able to fund their takeover the Glazers got out. But United has already begun to settle its debts, and still found the resources to signal Robin van Persie for 25 million pounds last summer - a which has proved important in the club's 20th title triumph. Gill recognizes its not all fan has been convinced by the Glazers, despite the teamas achievement, but he remains convinced such fans come in the minority. "There are still a tiny quantity of dissenters and they'll always be there and they have had long held opinions which they are not planning to change. We regard those," he added. "Ultimately, some one has to own the club. "But with that said, there will be considered a really small group, MUST (the Manchester United Supporters' Trust), who will always keep their particular views."

Potential reasons Federer folded thus tamely @ the 2013 Paris Masters final against Nadal.

What Federer was 'asked' to execute was far a long way far far beyond his current ability as well as the blame for it should squarely fall on Annacone. Once that strain took hold rest of the game fell apart like a card of packs or something similar to that. Heck, you can reasonably claim - and win - of the fact that stuff was beyond even for the years when he was with the height of his influence.

To attempt to indulge Nadal's backhand at EACH AND EVERY exchange threw everything out of - from forehand so that you can backhand to net performance to backhand volley back to you name it. While it's a noble cause and a good one, you need far much more juice than Federer holds today to even come close specially as soon as you DON'T fare too certainly on returning the excessive ball to where that came from - initially. But that original methodology at least allowed the rest of the game to stay undamaged delivering 10 wins within 30 matches. This current plan would have won NONE - at any time.

And that was just ONE part of the two-piece suit. The other was to engage your own forehand with EVERY freaking opportunity. Add the two and you need to be surprised Federer won elements forget games - at his serve - result in alone on Nadal's. That thinking pushed the 'regular' forehand within the 'starving' stage thereby forcing the need to hit an outright receiver 'outlandish'. Nadal's famous defence didn't assist to push that state past ALL frontiers known to generate a win.

Federer missed routine forehands caused by a combination of above. He previously to pull the trigger as a result of conditions he created ON HIS OWN. AND Nadal didn't produce some 'out of world' type. He did'nt need to as someone was busy self-destructing - on his own. If Federer had resorted so that you can his regular strategy, he might have still lost nevertheless it would DEFINITELY have already been FAR closer. So they took a gamble and additionally lost. Problem? This was a gamble without even considering the fact that NOT EVERYBODY had ever won in the casino in question -- EVER. Not a red cent. Second piece of this puzzle was non-existent knowning that was KNOWN to anybody except two clowns labeled as Annacone and Federer.

32 unforced errors to help you 8 from Nadal may not be explained any other strategy. Want more? How approximately 58% first serve amount. 19, yes, 19 rushes for the net to 5 with Nadal. Nadal won four of those. Federer? 9. And it wasn't some coincidence that Federer rushed to the net at nearly EVERY SINGLE break point - and lost. It was a service of complete lack involving plan B.

Nadal, nevertheless, was lucky he isn't facing Djokovic. Djokovic, perhaps at current state, would have thrashed what Nadal made against Federer. Heck, even Federer can have cut it close if.........

Nadal certainly has enhanced since his first tournament following 7-month break BUT whether they can STILL beat Djokovic is up in the air. That match up / mental dominance coupled with nearly NO 'resistance' to be able to gauge progress adds actual layer(s) of uncertainty despite the five-set format in play in the next outing.

Like I've barked before, Nadal facing Djokovic just once in four (Indian Bore holes, Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome) 'expected' suffers from WILL favor Djokovic Greater than Nadal. When you could be the aggressor, the onus shift on the aggressee to alter that status quo. Without attempts to evolve, the incumbent stays position - pretty. No matter that which you do elsewhere and with ANYBODY else, it doesn't impact the established variable - sufficiently.

Translation: When Djokovic faces Nadal : at ANY round -- at Roland Garros, it is possible to bet for AT THE VERY LEAST a guaranteed thriller, if you are not a Djokovic win. Nadal is simply not getting a pass they have received from everyone more since his return. Of the ONLY two losses Nadal has so far one of these is to Djokovic - rather than coincidentally it's ONLY a in straight sets. You cannot shake that based solely on the run Nadal has had. It can be like comparing oranges to help trucks or airplanes. There isn't a connection. Add the history regarding the two and............

As far as Federer is involved, having lost six matches this season in six attempts along with ONE 'lame' final berth across tomato cans, cannot bode well for the point-loaded territory he shall be treading soon. Could he not just make the year-end top - forget the WTF? It is possible. Forget that, how about winning some title ANYWHERE - when fun?

The physical maturity comes with finally lost the race while using mental one - a mix that was largely liable for the spurt late very last season. The economical type of play may have last of all hit the diminishing comes back post - after 15 a long time as pro.

French Open 2013: Lower-Ranked Players Who Will Cause Major Upsets

The names of the top three or four male and female tennis stars are well-known, but some players outside of the top 10 could easily make a splash at the French Open this year too.

No. 4 Rafael Nadal is the hot story going into the tournament, fresh off of a win against Roger Federer in Rome. The victory boosted Nadal past David Ferrer in the world rankings, according to ESPN. The Spaniard has seven career titles in the French Open and is viewed as the clear-cut male favorite on Roland Garros' clay surface.

Entering the women's tournament, Serena Williams is the obvious choice to emerge victorious. She is in the middle of a career-best 24-match winning streak (via the New York Times).

The other top-ranked players in both fields are extremely famous even to casual fans: Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Andy Murray (if he plays), Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka.

All of those big names might face significant roadblocks in their quest to win the French Open though. The following players are those potential barriers. Keep an eye on them once qualifiers are finished and matchups are set.

The French right-hander is one of the best sleepers in the tournament this year. Paire is playing in his home country and had several strong outings recently.

In Rome, the 24-year old defeated Juan Monaco (No. 18) and Juan Martin Del Potro (No. 7) before falling to Roger Federer. His outstanding play in Italy proved that he can beat elite talent.

Ousting Del Potro was big for Paire, but he's been eliminated by Federer or Nadal three out of his past four tournaments on clay. The Frenchman certainly has the ability to upset players ranked higher than him (Paire is currently No. 26), but he hasn't been able to beat a top-five player in 2013.

She knocked off Nadia Petrova, No. 11, in her first round of play. After two more victorious matches, Navarro was bested by eventual champ Serena Williams. Not bad considering Williams' untouchable play lately. Her success at that tournament was no aberration, either.

In Madrid, the native managed to defeat Samantha Stosur in two sets. Caroline Wozniacki lost to Navarro in similar fashion earlier this year at Stuttgart. Both players are top-10 talents, and both wins came on clay.

Some of the Latvian's main highlights since January: beating Tommy Haas on his way to a title, handily defeating Janko Tipsarevic, besting John Isner right after the American claimed a title and playing Rafael Nadal tight twice.

Beating Nadal in what is by far the Spaniard's best tournament would not be an easy task. Gulbis has shown the ability to win big on clay though.

The Match: The Day The Game of Golf Changed Forever - Book Review

Mark Frost's The Greatest Game Ever Played, an account of the legendary 1913 US Open, in which amateur Francis Ouimet beat the great Harry Vardon is one of the best golf books ever written. More than an account of a tournament, it uses the event to cast a light on the era's problems of social class and distinction. In that, it's not just a great golf book—it's simply a great book that has been enjoyed by everyone I've shared it with, golfers and non-golfers alike.

The Match in some ways picks up on that story. Years after the Open, Ouimet's former caddy Eddie Lowry heads west, where he becomes a multi-millionaire car dealer, and a golf patron. In particular, Lowry "sponsors" a collection of outstanding amateurs by giving them jobs at his dealerships. The amateurs, including Ken Venturi and Harvie Ward, work at selling cars in the morning and golf in the afternoon. In this, Lowry skirts a fine line between amateur and professional—a ruse which has tragic consequences later.

Lowry also has become friends with Bing Crosby, and it's at a party for Crosby's 1956 Clambake (now the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am) that he makes a bet with fellow millionaire George Coleman: that Venturi and Ward can beat anyone in the world. Coleman takes Lowry up on the bet (the size of which still is unknown) and rounds up his own pair of players: none other than Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan. A private match is scheduled before a practice round of the Crosby Clambake.

It's a concept so fabulous—so phantasmagorical—that I had, and still have, a hard time believing it. It's one of those tales that is so outrageous it could only be true. Think about it: a private match between the teams of Hogan and Nelson, and Venturi and Ward to settle a bet made by Francis Ouimet's caddy.

Even more amazing is that I don't ever recall reading about it before. The Golf Blogger is very well read on the history of golf, but this was off the radar screen.

I won't tell you the outcome of The Match, for that would spoil the suspense in the hole-by-hole account. But in truth, it really doesn't matter. Win or lose, the Match represented the last gasp of the amateur golfer as a contender on golf's biggest stages. As the book's subtitle suggests, the Match was a metaphorical "Day The Game of Golf Changed Forever." Prior to the era of The Match, there still was some hope that a brilliant amateur would return the game to the realm of Bobby Jones and Francis Ouimet. It was rapidly becoming clear, however, that wouldn't happen.

The bulk of the book covers the match itself, but Frost also offers brief backgrounds on the principals: Lowry, Hogan, Nelson, Venturi and Ward. The material on the first four offered nothing that I haven't already read in other biographies of those players (although if you have not read their biographies, this book covers the basics well). I was more intrigued by the fate of Harvie Ward, who suffered through a series of difficulties connected to his involvement with Lowry. The background, however, does not equal that of The Greatest Game. And in that, The Match is a somewhat lesser book—and one that may not appeal as much to non-golfers.

I recommend this book wholeheartedly to golfers, and especially to those for whom the names Nelson and Hogan still carry some magic. Fans of The Greatest Game also may find it interesting as a sort of sequel. But I can't see it reaching the greater reading audience.

Preakness 2013 Contenders: Popular Horses and avoid at Pimlico Race Study course.

The 19-horse field at the Kentucky Derby has been cut by two for the 2013 Preakness Pins on Saturday at Pimlico Competition Course.

Derby-winner Orb could be the overwhelming favorite come article time, but there are a good number other popular picks that bettors are thinking about at the Triple Crown's minute leg this weekend, among them Rick Pitino's Goldencents together with Illinois Derby winner Making.

Below we'll take a closer evaluate the Preakness field, highlighting a trio of popular picks to prevent yourself from on Saturday evening.

Despite winning this Grade III Illinois Derby very last month, Departing wasn't fast sufficient to catch Revolutionary or Mylute within the Grade II Louisiana Derby in March.

Both Oxbow and Mylute, who will get started in right alongside Departing the following weekend, posted strong finishes at Churchill Downs 14 days ago and have your closing strength to outlast Exiting down the stretch.

Goldencents is often a popular pick to acquire the Preakness Stakes concerning Saturday, but after a disappointing 18th-place finish in the Kentucky Derby two months ago, bettors would be smart to avoid the Santa Anita Derby safe bet this weekend.

The Doug O'Neill-trained colt got off to the fast start at Churchill Downs, pulling into second place in the first quarter of a good mile, but he after that faded, falling way back and because of contention.

That's not to declare Goldencents and jockey Kevin Krigger are going to finish dead last just as before this Saturday, but horse racing fans should be wary of the tandem following an eye-opening Derby functioning.

Goldencents will start coming from post No. 2 appropriate alongside favorite Orb with Saturday, and if he doesn't get off to a quick start out, he could be forced to your back early.

After winning the Level III Holy Bull Stakes thereafter finishing second in that Grade I Florida Derby, Itsmyluckyday turned in a very shockingly bad performance at the Kentucky Derby on May 4, coming home fifteenth.

Like Derby favorites Goldencents along with Verrazano, Itsmyluckyday started well even so fell off the pace late with the race.

Eddie Plesa's colt will start way on teh lateral side from post No. 9 concerning Saturday, which could be tough with Orb starting opposite along the rail. He challenged Orb with the Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park in March but has been ultimately outclassed by this particular weekend's favorite.

Stoke City-Queens Park Rangers Critique - Aol! Activities

LONDON (SE) - The urgency is growing for slumping Stoke City, who are in desperate need of three points at Loftus Road on Saturday in order to avoid the likely similar destiny of Queens Park Rangers. The Potters (7-13-13) have fallen three on the trot, have only one point from seven suits and because they have perilously fallen near to the decline one win in 13. Stoke are 16th with 34 points, trailing Sunderland on goal differential while keeping that same advantage over Aston Villa, nevertheless the three sides are only three points before Wigan Athletic with five fits outstanding. Boss Tony Pulis feels 40 could be the magic number to stay in the very best flight, however the schedule is demanding with three road matches in addition to among Stoke's two outstanding home matches is likely to be against a Spurs staff pursuing a Champions League location. "We are seeking 40 points. If we drop the following three matches and win the final two we'll reach 40 points," he informed the team's official web site. "We have had a need to score more goals - even if we were successful we were not rating enough goals." As Pulis mentioned, objectives have now been scarce for the Potters throughout their issues, and they're attempting to regroup from the 2-0 home beat to champions-elect Manchester United on Sunday. It was the sixth time during their winless streak these were kept with out a goal, and a development doesn't appear likely as Stoke try to end a six-match path losing streak. The Potters have scored only eight away targets overall and have netted only two during an winless stretch (0-2-6) away from the Britannia Stadium. In addition, Pulis is waiting on winger Matthew Etherington and defense Marc Wilson, both of whom are struggling accidents and missed Sunday's reduction. "We are still a bit concerned with Matty Etherington; he is the one which we are waiting on," Pulis said. "We'll see what he's like." In front of only Reading on purpose differential in the dining table with 24 items, Queens Park Rangers (4-12-17) face a difficult challenge in steering clear of the decline. Manager Harry Redknapp saw his team's winless talent hit four fits after a 2-0 defeat at Everton on Saturday, quitting objectives on each side of halftime near the intermission. "At 0-0 I usually felt we seemed dangerous," Redknapp told QPR's official website. "But once we went 1-0 down we seemed to drop a little of perception. It absolutely was an incredible deflection. We weren't the exact same staff second half, that has been our problem. We began the second half sloppy." Currently 10 items from safety, Redknapp knows the only path out of relegation is to close out on a split. "Every sport is a must-win but we need to win four games somehow for us to possess any opportunity (of preventing relegation )," he said. "It is not going to be easy to complete but while there is games left you have got to believe that it may happen." QPR had the function of play generally in most of the slow fitting at Britannia on Nov. 10, however it was Charlie Adam's target in the 52nd minute that gave the Potters the total three factors in a 1-0 win. Stoke are trying to complete the double after QPR turned the trick last season.

Oklahoma City Thunder Eliminated from NBA Playoffs After 88-84 Loss to Grizzlies

The Oklahoma City Thunder were bounced from the Western Conference semifinals by the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, 88-84.

Minus Russell Westbrook, the Thunder shot 37 percent from the floor against the Grizzlies. Both Serge Ibaka and second-year pro Reggie Jackson had big nights, but Kevin Durant went 5-of-21 from the field while committing a whopping seven turnovers. He posted a plus-minus of minus-four when he was on the floor. Postseason veteran Derek Fisher also scored just nine points on 3-of-11 shooting.

The Grizzlies didn't shoot well, either (minus Zach Randolph, who posted 28 points on 8-of-17 shooting), but they did win the turnover battle and attempted 29 free throws (making 25). Memphis scored 22 points on 14 Oklahoma City turnovers.

The Thunder, backed by their home crowd at Chesapeake Energy Arena, got off to a strong start on Wednesday, outscoring the Grizzlies in the first quarter, 23-18. But they had a miserable second quarter, getting outscored 32-15 in the frame.

The second half was also a tale of two quarters. The Thunder outscored the Grizzlies in the third quarter, 24-14, but were outscored in the final period, 24-22.

Oklahoma City's poor shooting in Game 5 wasn't an anomaly. The Thunder were shooting 41 percent for the series headed into Wednesday's matchup. The absence of their All-Star point guard was evident, as they scored a combined 225 points in their first two games of the playoffs with Westbrook leading the charge.

In the end, Durant could only do so much to make up for the loss of Westbrook, and it was only natural the Thunder would lose when he had an off night.

Liverpool's Best and Worst Signings of the 2012-2013 Season

Philippe Coutinho scored a 25-yard cracker, Jordon Ibe made his first-team debut and Liverpool dominated in a 1-0 home victory over relegated QPR.

Even if Jamie Carragher hadn't announced his retirement, Sunday's win at Anfield seemed like a perfect match to put an end to a season whose theme has been transition and progress.

But as it happened, Sunday was Carragher's 737th and final match for Liverpool, adding a touch of symbolism to the season's final Premier League game as the old made way for the new.

An important summer awaits—and, if recent reports are to be believed, an exciting transfer window too. But before transfer season starts in earnest on July 1, let's take a look back on the best and worst signings of the season gone by.

After the infamous wasted spending that blighted Kenny Dalglish's second reign at Anfield, Sahin seemed to present a new era of transfers: young (23 years old), talented (he won the Bundesliga Player of the Season in 2011, aged just 22) and with experience at two top European clubs, he seemed to represent a new generation of Liverpool players, even if he had only joined on loan.

And it started well, too. By the end of September, he had notched three goals and three assists in a Red shirt, and he was already being linked with a permanent move to Anfield at the end of the season, according to ESPNFC.

Soon, however, Sahin lost his place in Brendan Rodgers' side. A deep-lying playmaker by trade, he was often played in the No. 10 role behind the strikers, a position that he didn't enjoy and didn't want to play in, as reported by the Guardian. The relationship between player and coach soon soured to the extent that the loan deal was terminated prematurely.

By then, the previously ignored financial aspect of the loan deal resurfaced: According to Goal.com, Liverpool paid a £5 million loan fee and promised to cover Sahin's yearly salary. Even providing for the premature termination, which could have saved the Reds from his second half-year wages (around £1.1 million), Sahin ended up costing a princely £6.1 million to play for a half a season.

Even when compared to the oft-injured and pricey Fabio Borini and the spectacularly faded Joe Allen, both of whom hold long-term contracts at Anfield, that's bad.

Before we talk about our main man, let's first pay tribute to the good work that was done in the January transfer window, when the new scouting team, recruited from Manchester City, first got their chance to flex their muscles.

Daniel Sturridge has scored 10 Premier League goals in 11 starts and in truth, was neck-and-neck in the admittedly two-horse race to be named Liverpool's best signing of the season.

Before Philippe Coutinho first stepped onto the Anfield turf, the question was why Liverpool would want to sign an overhyped youngster that Internazionale were willing to let go for such a low fee.

After he twisted and turned many a Premier League defence inside out, scoring three league goals in the process and becoming Liverpool's joint-second-highest assister (five) for the season, the question became why Inter even considered selling him at all.

It's been a few years since Liverpool last had an exciting No. 10—Luis Garcia wore it until 2007, when it was taken over by Andriy Voronin and Joe Cole—but in Coutinho, the Reds might have another gem to add to the list.

Mazy dribbles, powerful shots, mouthwatering through-balls, admirable work rate. With all these qualities to his game, watch out for the 2013-2014 season, when Philippe Coutinho could announce himself as a Premier League force in a Liverpool shirt.

Stoke City director Tony Pulis already plotting for next campaign after... - Telegraph.co.uk

Pulis wants to extend his seven-year reign at the Britannia Stadium and is prepared to renovate his team in an try to avoid still another fight against relegation. The 55-year-old is mapping out Stokeas pre-season arrangements and assessing potential shift targets including PSV Eindhoven opponent Erik Pieters, Copenhagen ahead Andreas Cornelius and Readingas Adam Le Fondre. Pulisas place has come under the focus following a disappointing work considering that the turn of the year, with the approaching departure of long-serving director of baseball John Rudge contributing to the uncertainty. Rudgeas agreement will not be replaced in the exit of senior and summer time search Sam Ellis a year ago has additionally resulted in increasing strategies that Pulis is losing his power in the Potteries. But Pulis has retained the backing of Coates and is defined to thrash out programs for the summer if and when Stoke are clear of relegation. A message to Liverpool FC and Andy Carroll a Youre greater off apart...

After seeing Wednesday nightas match between West Ham and Manchester United I have come to in conclusion that this summer could well be the most important in the profession of Andy Carroll. From the time his shift to Liverpool on deadline day of the 2011 January shift window it would be fair to say Carroll hasnat asserted himself in how he'd have preferred to. Under Kenny Dalglish he was unlucky with accidents and was outshone by his fellow January appearance Luis Suarez. Despite his problems on the subject with Liverpool Carroll was instrumental in their FA Cup run to the final last season and his objectives in the semi-final and the final were essential even when they eventually dropped to Chelsea in the final. The season was ended by carroll well but his future was yet again up in the air with the introduction of the newest manager Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irishman attained Anfield fresh from the successful season with Swansea and it was obvious that this was an appointment that was for the long term. Roy Hodgson was introduced to steady the vessel while Kenny Dalglish was never going to maintain charge for more than a number of months. Rodgers, a relatively young manager has brought in his some ideas of full football dating on about clubs like Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund. Despite his use of Danny Graham at Swansea it became very obvious pretty quickly that Andy Carroll wasnat likely to be part of Rodgersa plans at Liverpool and ultimately a loan deal with West Ham was arranged, essentially with a A17 million offer in the contract. That move came about despite fierce interest from Carrollas former team Newcastle, interest which surely will resurface in summer time, but still West Ham secured Carrollas services for per year. To date both West Ham and Carroll will be unhappy with the amount of activities the forward has featured in with accidents dogging the striker yet again. But despite his limited appearances there may be no doubting Carrollas influences in the suits he has performed in and the alliance he has struck up with Kevin Nolan has been wonderful to look at. Under Sam Allardyce Carroll has been utilised quite well utilizing the best of his attributes, specifically going and taking his teammates to the game. His heading power specifically is one that puts Carroll apart from other strikers such is his arieal prowess. He may not have obtained against Manchester United but he was a constant thorn inside their defenceas side and he won the first header that assisted Ricardo Vaz Teas operator. He might have only returned this season to six goals but in terms of leading the line he has done work Carlton Cole can only desire obtaining. While I think that there surely is a chance Carroll and Liverpool my work together I do not think it is likely at all. It would be described as a threat for Rodgers to try and apply a person like Carroll in to his present program mainly because of the shortage of fluidity. Great understanding has been shown by this season his front three of Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez in how by which they change positions and pull defenders out of positions to create room for every other. As as Carroll good is he wonat manage to he and duplicate that would need to end up being the focal point of Liverpoolas problems whenever they not offer him. Some section of does think but that playing a sort of front four targeting diamond with Carroll as a striker and these three interchanging behind could possibly be dangerous. You would then have to have two very disciplined defensive midfielders to their rear and there would oftimes be no room for Steven Gerrard. This but is all theoretical and eventually very impractical. In all seriousness Liverpool will probably try and take their losses on Carroll and turn to move him on. This may then allow a new striker to be brought by Rodgers to the team, the one that meets their own type of play. For Carroll then the question is where. The two sides that instantly spring in your thoughts will be the one he is presently on loan at and the one he was at before Liverpool. The primary problem is that although Newcastle may probably afford to re-buy Carroll they are impossible to be keen to match his present wages. The opposite might be said for West Ham who seem very happy to hand out high salaries but there is no chance they'll be found paying A17 million for him. Obviously these aren't the only clubs linked with Carroll and the likes of Tottenham and Everton have now been mentioned in recent months although the latteras interest is incredibly dubious right now. Within my opinion Carroll will leave this summer and I do think he will work his way into Englandas group for the Planet Cup (whenever they qualify) but with who's just too complicated to state at this stage. If he moved for A17 million one thing I'd be surprised about would be. The A35 million that Liverpool paid Newcastle for his signature was a remarkably inflated price and accidents and insufficient form mean his price has seriously dropped. Given these factors I truly wouldnat be paying more than around A10-12 million for Carroll at the most and it is now right down to the chairmen and administrators involved to strike up a package that suits all parties. A very important factor if this time around next year Carroll is left rotting in Liverpoolas that'll not be good for both sides book team. That would be a waste of his potential. New Manchester United manager David Moyes is pressurized to make his... : Telegraph. co. uk.

When i was a trainee reporter to the Coventry Evening Telegraph, I actually covered more than your fair share of dark red wedding celebrations. Scrabbling for a story to along with the obligatory smiling picture, I always asked from the long-married couple owed features it offers of their happy everyday life together.

And without omission, they replied: "Give together with take. " In one memorable instance, this was supplemented by the man adding: "And I don't argue. " Nevertheless broadly it was presented for the key to the market.

I thought about those couples when i watched Sir Alex Ferguson leave Old Trafford. I am touched by the point that he is, at least in part, leaving to attend so that you can his real marriage to help Cathy, the woman he calls the important figure of his occupation, his "bedrock of stableness and encouragement".

They have been completely married almost 50 yrs, which puts the 26 she has given to Manchester United into some perspective.

But his relationship with his club is a huge union just as unique. In recent years, the give and take has involved fans taking the rewards he has given them. In his early years responsible, it was, as this individual reminded everyone on Sunday, a different story: the marriage what food was in its early days and the road was rocky along with hard.

Persistence, endurance, patience, all the values that carry a couple through those first heady days or weeks of romance and about the building of a family and then a life together have been the qualities of his relationship in reference to his club. Plus a far chunk of tolerance on both factors; MUFC have stood simply by Ferguson through his most intemperate moments and he sequentially has pledged his customer loyalty and fidelity.

There are no flirtations elsewhere. Together with inside this union – created on old-fashioned values and shaped to last – a long time of unruly children are generally reared.

Favoured older sons just like Eric Cantona have recently been allowed infinite latitude because of their imagination and creativity and forgiven because of their naughty outbursts. Prodigal talents which include Cristiano Ronaldo have left home using their father's blessing upon all of them.

But the argumentative and sulky are generally punished severely, banished from the house, with their pc systems confiscated. Wayne Rooney looks at risk of joining a list coming from Beckham to Stam to Lorry Nistelrooy who thought they're able to challenge parental rule and get away with it – just to find that the family is more efficient than the rebellious toddler.

I could overdo this particular. I probably already need. But once you get started viewing football with the eye of a marriage counsellor, the application becomes quite addictive.

In this light, Roberto Mancini, in the grip of a distressing divorce from Manchester City, is the elegant charmer who had not quite readied himself with regard to life in the sturdy north, and whose petulant spirits swings meant that should the honeymoon was over, he can't hack it through your day-to-day ups and downs that are the stuff of marriage.

Jose Mourinho becomes the swaggering suitor, whose reputation as a bit of a ladies man meant that your grandparents did not think much of the likelihood of long-term commitment. Rafael Benítez is a overlooked grafter, always ready with a bouquet and some noise advice but lacking the glamour in the dashing wonderboys.

Roberto Martínez is the boy next door produced good. And, on the face of it, Manuel Pellegrini, just about the most likely new wearer in the Man City ring, is visually like the perfect lick: not only talented, but moral enough to have stood by his Malaga adult males for richer for not as good, in sickness and within health.

And what associated with David Moyes? As Ferguson reminded your crowd, he is starting a relationship where a great deal of that old give and take is going to be needed. He is clearly a great father, with a file in nurturing the teen. His olive branch to the next hothead Rooney indicates some willingness to spare that rod.

But whether they can make this marriage work is dependent upon lots of complicated factors for example a tactical awareness when people encounter sexy Europeans, which has become not part of a large number of counselling sessions at Refer. And the world is usually changing.

When I is at Coventry, we did not cover golden weddings because they were regarded as too recurrent to merit inclusion in a very local paper. With growing divorce and cohabitation premiums, they are now far more rare.

All the another thing in the big money, power hungry world of football, where people cannot afford to historic get to know 1 and make their glitches.

Moyes will need to ensure success faster than Ferguson ever before did, or the Stansted United bride will trade him in for a newer and a lot more sophisticated model.

CM Punk: Why His Return to the Company Must Happen the Night After Extreme Rules

Once the "Extreme Rules" pay-per-view is finished and fans are screaming over a terrible main event between John Cena and Ryback (I predict Ryback wins this match, but it isn't clean), all eyes and attention will be set upon CM Punk and his return to the ring.

For those of you in the know, that is Punk's hometown and the scene of Punk's infamous theft of the WWE Title two years ago at SummerSlam.

Since his time away from the ring beginning April 8, Punk's lack of stage presence has been bigger news than some of the angles the WWE is presently trying to promote. Good to know Punk's appeal is so great that he is needed now more than ever to help the company get through the summer swing of shows and pay-per-views.

The WWE has had issues with booking and the loss of major superstars since the retirement of Edge, which threw everything off kilter. I am not blaming Adam Copeland for any of the bad booking, misguidance and the poor handling of superstars. That is all on the WWE and its management. But one move, in my opinion, sent this company into a tailspin and wrestlers like Punk have had to come to the aid of the WWE to bail it out of the doldrums it has been facing.

You could also make the case Wade Barrett's injury did not help, plus the fact Rey Mysterio has been MIA for some time and Christian is still out of action have likely added to the existing problems.

However much we dislike the role of John Cena, the fact does remain he is there and fights through, much like Punk played through the pain. The time off (five weeks now) should give the superstar more than ample time to heal, rest and come back to the WWE.

It will be interesting to see if he is still the "Paul Heyman Guy" he was before he hugged his "friend" and drifted off into the sunset for some rest.

If the WWE is going to make any headway in its move toward SummerSlam, the second-biggest PPV of the year, Punk must begin his road back starting Monday night. There are 28 days between pay-per-views, which is plenty of time to build Punk as a conquering hero again if the company is so inclined. There are so many heels now on the dance card, the chances are Punk would need to resurface as a face to balance the powers in wrestling and help Cena and Alberto Del Rio fight the good fight against evil.

Cody Rhodes is in purgatory. R-Truth could use a makeover of sorts. Wade Barrett could be great as a brawling hero. Chris Jericho always delivers.

But the main attraction is Punk, the leader of this band and the face of this company in terms of real value (sorry Cena). If the WWE is going to move forward and gain any momentum, it needs to happen in three days when the dust settles and "Payback" becomes the focal point on every wrestler and fans' mind.
