St. Louis Blues: Blues Clinch Playoffs and Give Bouwmeester First Playoff Game

Finally, Jay Bouwmeester could breathe easy. For the first time in his NHL career, Bouwmeester is likely to be maneuvering to the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Blues defeated the Colorado Avalanche 3-1 at Scottrade Center, Tuesday night. The gain was the team's third straight at home, and the Blues got retribution for a horrible 5-3 loss to the Avs. An important success of the Blues was their power play. For initially since Feb. 21, the Blues won multiple times on the ability play. In 2013, the energy play has been really passive, but tonight revealed good stuff can happen when you take the puck. Chris Stewart won the 100th goal of his career on a suggestion from Jordan Leopold, and another deflection is put by Patrik Berglund past Semyon Varlamov. Mark Elliott had a bounce-back game after making in four objectives on 19 shots by ending 17 of Colorado's 18 shots. Elliott showed he can still perform well, despite a poor trip. Maintaining his confidence is going to be huge for the rest of the playoffs and the regular season. However the person of the night time was Bouwmeester. Bouwmeester arrived to the NHL drafted third overall in 2002 by the Florida Panthers. He was the average person from 2002-2005, till he broke out in the 2005-2006 season. Bouwmeester had just five goals but had 41 helps, putting him at 46 points in 82 games, profession highs at the full time. He would continue to set job marks in goals scored each year, in addition to digest more and more minutes on the blue line for the Panthers. He'd be traded to the Calgary Flames in 2009 for Jordan Leopold (now a Blue Note) and a draft pick in the 2009 draft. As the same offensive prowess would not be experienced by him as he did in Florida, a Flame, but he'd continue to be a regular ice-time player, calculating not quite 28 minutes per game. On March 15, 2011, Bouwmeester set the record for most consecutive games played by way of a defenseman at 486 games. He would also eclipse the 750 level of games played without making the playoffs. His luck might change, however, on April 1, 2013, when he was dealt to the St. Louis Blues. The Blues have continued to be in playoff contention through the period, and it was the best possiblity to break the streak and give him a shot at Lord Stanley's Cup. And as a result of 3-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche, that chance is finally got by Bouwmeester.
