Knicks defeat Pacers and clinch No. 2 seed in East

NEW YORK (AP) a Carmelo Anthony scored 25 points on 9-for-23 firing contrary to the rugged Indiana security, and the New York Knicks clinched the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 90-80 victory within the Pacers on Sunday. Bob Copeland included 20 items and J.R. Smith had 15 for the Knicks, who will host seventh-seeded Boston next weekend. Ny is assured the home-court advantage for the first two units of the playoffs after finishing a second to Miami in the convention. Anthony didn't play in the fourth quarter, ending his talent of 30-point activities at eight. He bruised his left shoulder after he was fouled by David West in the third and had gone to the scorer's dining table to check back in with around 4 minutes left, but was called back to the seat after Raymond Felton's container sent the lead back to 12. The Knicks won for the time in 16 games and locked up their greatest seed simply because they were also a No. 2 in 1994. Lance Stephenson scored 22 points and West had 17 points and ten boards for the Pacers, who arrived to the game with a chance to get the Knicks for 2nd but must settle for holding off Brooklyn for next. Indiana remains two games in front of the Nets, who dropped 93-87 at Toronto. The Pacers committed 26 turnovers that resulted in 33 factors and shot 61.5 per cent at the free throw line, dropping for the last time in five games with a careless bad performance. Anthony got the Knicks down to an instant start and the Pacers could never get especially close. But their actual play slowed him down enough to help keep him from closing in on teammate Amare Stoudemire's Knicks report of eight straight 30-point games. The Knicks shut out the standard season with games at Charlotte on Monday and at home against Atlanta on Wednesday. Instructor Mike Woodson said he likely to rest some players and would ask specific players what they wished to do. Anthony, after having a pounding Sunday, is likely to devote some time off after his new surge that moved him to the top of the league scoring race. Anthony brings the NBA with 9.0 items per first quarter, and got there Sunday in just 2 minutes, 20 seconds. As Ny led 23-15 he finished with 13 points in the period. Copeland struck straight 3-pointers throughout a 15-2 spurt early in the second, and the lead grew to 41-21 on Steve Novak's 3-pointer with 7:03 staying in the half. The Knicks still led by 15 with 3A minutes left, but Indiana won seven directly to return into it and considered a powerful zone defense, cutting it to 47-40 at halftime. The Knicks had it straight back to 13 in the third after back-to-back bins by Smith, but Indiana hung close and was within simple digits early in the last before the Knicks pulled away again. Without Tyson Chandler and Kenyon Martin, the Knicks began Solomon Jones, who was signed Friday to provide them some size against Pacers heart Roy Hibbert. Woodson said the Knicks must have their size back time due to their playoff operator, with Chandler (stuffed disk) and Martin (sprained left ankle) both getting better. He also said Rasheed Wallace, coping with a bone in his left foot and out since December, also could be available this week. Notes: Woodson explained Wallace has been running and shooting the last few days and can perform in just one of the rest of the two regular-season games if he feels around it. ... Boston swept New York in the first round in 2011. ... Woodson could not get out of the way quick enough and was hit with the ball when West shot a out of bounds in the first half.
