Who you kidding Fergie? United boss claims the title isn't won yet ahead of ... - Mirror.co.uk

Despite United's formidable points advantage, with just eight games left, Ferguson has warned his players there can be no let-up until the title is won.

As well as City, United also face Arsenal and Chelsea in their final eight games, and Ferguson warned against thinking the title was already in the bag.

"For City it's a big game also for them, in the sense that they want to come and derail us for a spell, and I can understand their motivation. We would probably be the same.

Asked why City had not been able to keep pace with United, Ferguson said: "You should ask them that, that's not something I can answer.

"They've corrected that part. At this moment we're 10 goals ahead of City, although that can changed overnight of course, in a couple of games.

"Nonetheless it's a big turnaround from last year, as is the points total. So you have to congratulate the players on their consistency.

Asked if United had been given enough credit for their heroics this season, Ferguson said: "I don't think it matters.

Asked if he would mention City's last visit to Old Trafford - when they thumped United 6-1 - to his players ahead of the game, Ferguson said: "Do you think I'm going to mention that? Jesus Christ!

Robin van Persie has managed just one goal in his last 12 games for United but Ferguson said he was unconcerned at the striker's perceived dip in form.

"It's a bit disappointing the goal at Sunderland wasn't awarded to him, but I can understand that as it took a wicked deflection.

"But the goals are there and they will come. He's like all strikers, they get dry spells, they hope it ends quickly and Robin is no different."

Wayne Rooney and Rafael started training today and should be fit for Monday, while Nemanja Vidic and Jonny Evans should start training on Saturday.
