Zamora fit to handle Fulham on first come back to Craven Cottage with relegation... - Daily Mail

UPDATED: 02:23 EST, 1 April 2013 Former Fulham striker Bobby Zamora has been passed fit to tonight confront his previous team-mates in a game for QPR. Zamora left Craven Cottage for Loftus Road in January 2012 but his former manager Martin Jol has several regrets at losing a person with a suspicious fitness record. 'Bobby desired to move,' said Jol in front of the west London derby. 'He thought he may help QPR. Hopefully, after our game, he will make them. Any team can be helped by him because he's a great striker if he is fit. Welcome home: Bobby Zamora (left) scored many goals while playing at Craven Cottage 'When he played he did extremely well but he missed 30 or 40 per cent of the games. 'If he was fit he was selected for the national group. 'He has all of the attributes, however when Bobby was not there we'd a problem up front and that's why we changed it and now we've Bryan Ruiz and Hugo Rodallega and Dimitar Berbatov and the majority of the time they're fit to select.' QPR manager Harry Redknapp, meanwhile, has told Fulham fans that Zamora justifies a welcome on his go back to Craven Cottage. Zamora's goals helped fire Fulham into the 2010 Europa League final and he spent four years at the club before going to QPR in January 2010. Redknapp despairs at the way in which modern-day football followers abuse the people they once cheered - and he hopes Zamora gets the reception he deserves. 'I don't know why you should get stick when you get back to a club where you've done so remarkably well,' Redknapp said. 'Why do you abuse somebody when they have given you good company and been a good player? 'I visited watch them perform Juventus that night (in the Europa League). Which was one of many most useful footballing nights I have ever gone to. 'Fulham went 1-0 down and they were something like 4-1 down on aggregate (but came ultimately back to win 4-1 on the night time) and Bobby ripped them to pieces. 'What a night of football, I loved every moment of it. 'Years ago people would return to their old club and they would obtain a wonderful ovation. Expensive oh Lord, what's happened?' Essential guy? Zamora's targets is likely to be essential if QPR are to stand any possibility of success After beginning the growing season with a hammer, score four occasions in his first five matches, Zamora has only found the net once since last September. But Redknapp believes his go back to fitness after overcoming a leg injury and a dose of the virus is critical to QPR's chances of Premier League emergency. 'He is important to us. He keeps the ball up, he knows what he's doing and he knows how exactly to perform. Going back to Fulham will be interesting for him,' Redknapp said. Goodwill: Martin Jol will soon be content if Harry Redknapp (below, right) could keep QPR in the Premier League Jol and Redknapp are big friends far from the dugout, furthermore, but you will have precious little goodwill on present when their two teams meet at Craven Cottage tonight. A gain may place mid-table Fulham just one short of Jol's 40-point protection goal while QPR, who lay 2nd from bottom on goal difference, are scrapping for their Premier League lives. Jol demands there while he believes Redknapp may still secure survival for his team, will be no favours. 'I have no desire [who goes down],' said Jol. 'But I'll not say I would like them [QPR] to drop since I like Harry Redknapp - he's an incredible person and good manager. 'At the finish the category won't rest. While there is still 24 points (to play for) and that's a great deal they will fight to the conclusion. 'If QPR find a way to win four to five they still have to be able to stay up.' More common guise: Injury has bothered Zamora at QPR after he moved from opponents Fulham Jol isn't content with just getting success for Fulham, he needs the group to complete as high as possible. Asked about his goal, he said: 'The bigger the greater for the membership and for the participants, since a number of them have bonuses inside their commitment if they're in the top six, top nine, top 10. 'But that's an economic thing. I would prefer to take the most effective 10.'
