Roy Hodgson trusts him, picking out the young midfielder as one of the emerging talents in England's World Cup qualifying campaign.
He is gaining experience, playing Champions League football for United against Real Madrid and working his way into the England set-up.
Last month he started against Brazil at Wembley, picked to play in his favoured central midfield position alongside Jack Wilshere and captain Steven Gerrard.
Tomorrow evening, in front of 12,000 supporters at the City Stadium in Podgorica, he hopes to win his ninth cap in this vital World Cup qualifier against Montenegro.
Cleverley, 23 (below), said: 'It's been a big few weeks for me because I've played matches against Brazil, Real Madrid and Chelsea.
'These are the games I want to play in.Unfortunately it wasn't so good against Real Madrid and Chelsea in the FA Cup, but they were good experiences.
'In my early games I would get nervous and it was the same with United because I just wanted to impress, but now it's excitement more than anything. I've played in some big games like Galatasaray away and you can't get a much better atmosphere than that.
'I'm getting experience of these games away from home in hostile places. I've had a good run in the senior side and the manager has shown a lot of faith in me.
Montenegro is a big game and we will prepare for it thoroughly. You just have to look at the table —they have 13 points and we have 11.
'It would only be natural for big games like this that everyone wants to play. Those who don't will be disappointed, but coming off the bench and helping the team to win is part of the job, too.
