With Old Trafford pal Rio Ferdinand 'absent', Smalling fancies starting as many Three Lions games as possible (don't tell Fergie)
Old Trafford defender Smalling insists he is ready to step into the England line-up after grasping his big chance in his audition in San Marino.
Rio Ferdinand's withdrawal and John Terry's retirement has left a big gap in central defence and England boss Roy Hodgson appears to be ready to make Smalling and Joleon Lescott his first choice pairing for Montenegro.
Smalling, who has won five senior caps, said: "There were a few pull-outs for this one but it gives the people here an opportunity.
"I definitely see myself as having a chance. The more games I can get, if I can get on a little run, the position is more your own.
"Montenego is going to be a massive game. If we can come off with three points, we can think that's a job well done. We see their results so we know it's going to be a close one and Tuesday is a massive game."
